A DUBLIN CAFÉ that previously got in hot water over comments about vegans has now managed to offend pretty much all of Brazil.

Yes, Paul Stenson of the White Moose Café (and the Charleville Lodge Hotel) in Dublin is proving once again that he just can’t let a joke die.

Earlier this month, Stenson posted on Facebook about interviewing a Brazilian man for a kitchen porter job:

The poor lad, whenever he wanted to say kitchen, he said chicken. I really want to be chicken porter. I like chickens. I really like to be in chickens. How big is your chicken? I have honestly never found it more difficult to keep a straight face in my life.

The post proved unpopular among Brazilian people living in Dublin, who believed it was ‘mocking’ the man’s poor English.

It then found its way to popular Brazilian entertainment website Capinaremos, which accused Stenson of being ‘xenophobic’ and encouraged their followers to bombard the page with negative reviews.

The feud was later picked up by BBC Brazil, who invited Stenson to defend his posts:

We like to make fun of people. Not to be a serious page. But some Brazilians took it the wrong way and created a campaign to attack us.

However the administrator of the Capinaremos page, Sandro Sanfelice, says they didn’t have a problem with the joke – just the content of Stenson’s 26-plus follow up posts.

The problem was with his behaviour after that. He made comments raising the level of the din and we only counter-attacked. I thought a lot before calling in our followers because his idea is to get publicity for free, but then decided to join in the fun.

In those posts, Stenson challenged his detractors to post even more bad reviews, made a few more off-colour gags, and changed page’s cover photo to a picture of Conor McGregor knocking out Brazilian fighter Jose Aldo.

He claims he has received over 20,000 one-star reviews since the post went viral, but as of this afternoon, shows no signs of giving up the fight.
